Exciting News: My 10-Year-Old Daughter is a Chef in the Making!
It's a proud moment in our household as my 10-year-old daughter has taken the kitchen by storm! With every flip of the spatula and sizzle of the skillet, she surprises us all. I can’t help but be a proud and grateful mother! Praise the Lord!
For the past two Sundays, she's been our breakfast chef, whipping up meals for the whole family. What's more, her enthusiasm for learning knows no bounds. From asking about the difference between a skillet and a saucepan to perfecting the art of flipping omelets, her curiosity is infectious.
This newfound passion marks a significant change in our home dynamics. Previously, while she occasionally helped out in the kitchen, it was only when she felt like it. Now, she's embracing cooking from start to finish! As a mother, nothing makes me happier or more grateful than this.
Reflecting on what contributed to this transformation, I realize it's about nurturing her interests rather than imposing it. Here's what I believe has made a difference:
Embracing Every Opportunity: Despite being busy, I've always welcomed her into the kitchen, never turning down her offers to help.
Quality Time Together: Even when she wasn't keen on cooking, I invited her to hang out while I prepared meals. Some of our best conversations have happened amidst the clatter of pots and pans.
Encouragement Over Criticism: Regardless of the state of the kitchen or presentation, I would only encourage and praise her for her efforts and creativity rather than perfection.
Investing in Learning: Providing her with children's cooking books and encouraging her to join my cooking classes has fueled her passion further.
The results speak for themselves:
She's taking the initiative to cook not only for us but also for her friends during playdates.
Her interest in screens has dwindled as she immerses herself in the world of flavors and ingredients.
She displays her creativity by dreaming up innovative ways to present dishes, like serving avocado in a 'bowl’, similar to a hotel style presentation
Her confidence soars as she plans, executes, and cleans up after her cooking endeavors.
This journey isn't just about mastering culinary skills; it's about instilling life lessons. From problem-solving to confidence-building, the kitchen is a classroom like no other.
As we celebrate her achievements, we're thrilled to announce upcoming cooking classes. Join us as we embark on a culinary adventure together. Click here for more details and sign up now!Exciting News: My 10-Year-Old Daughter is a Chef in the Making!
